Project Overview

This custom hardcover edition was engineered specifically for an exceptionally thick text block exceeding 1,100 pages. While decorative edge printing has become increasingly popular in collector publishing, maintaining smooth and uninterrupted edge artwork on a book approaching 60mm in thickness presents significant manufacturing challenges.

To achieve a clean decorative edge appearance, particular attention was given to folding accuracy, gathering control, sewing quality, spine formation, case binding precision, and trimming consistency throughout the entire production process. Every stage of production was carefully managed to minimize page shifting and maintain stable alignment across the text block.

The result is a premium collector edition that preserves smooth page edges and continuous edge artwork without visible white lines, artwork interruption, or uneven layering. Combined with rounded spine construction, gold foil stamping, head and tail bands, and a ribbon marker, the finished book offers both luxury presentation and the structural durability required for long-term use. This project demonstrates the advanced manufacturing control required for high-page-count hardcover books with decorative edge printing.
